I posted an article on Facebook earlier this year about all of the things women do to keep themselves safe without even realizing they do them. After reading it, my dad turned to my mom with this completely perplexed look and asked, “…ok…I see her point…but do you actually do all of that? Like on a regular basis? All of those things?” And my mom was like YES. EVERY DAY. EVERY TIME I LEAVE THE HOUSE. My own dad, who has gone out of his way my entire life to instill in me a sense of self-worth based in the idea that women can and should do anything and that girls are smart, strong, and capable, didn’t even realize what his own wife and daughter go through every single day. This is so important.
